For the tournament in Kentucky, I flew to Lexington with Hamline, but for the way back, they all missed the plane for the championship round. I didn't have a role and I had another trip to take (which also required flying and packing) so I taxied it from Richmond back to Lexington and flew alone.
So I flew alone for half the trip.  :p

I tend to enjoy the 2-2 style. The only tournament at which I've competed that runs this way is our regional (St. Paul), with two trials on Saturday and two more on Sunday. Of course, this only works where there is no championship trial. I like being able to have Friday night to relax with my teammates, and of course do some preparation. If you put me at any Mock tourney, though, I'm a happy man.

2-2 works great for the regional because, since it's in your region, (and on my campus, yay) the drive is short and doing 2-2 keeps you from having to miss school (although all tourny's are a nightmare for homework).  I can't imagine doing more than 1 round + awards on a Sunday tourny that I have to go a long way to get to though.   We usually miss school for 1-2-1 tourny's anyway, sometimes we miss Thursday as well as Friday for travel, but with 1-2-1 you get back before midnight sometimes.

I would agree that in a more general sense, the 1-2-1 format works better. It would really suck to have a long drive ahead after a 2-2 tourney on Sat-Sun. I never really cared about homework on mock weekends anyway. If I couldn't get it done ahead of time, I just did a half-assed job when I got home. Of course, sometimes that isn't good... like this year, the day after regionals I was out drinking with my team to celebrate, even though I had an econ test the next morning for which I hadn't studied. So, I started studying at about 11:45 that night, while somewhat inebriated... but I still managed to pull off a B on the test.  :D The moral of the story, then, is that it's okay to drink when you have a test the next morning, as long as it's for the sake of Mock.

Mike, we should really extend the time for lunch and post signs to help people figure things out

Yeah we should.  I really need to remember that next year (well, not like I have any control over the time, but I could do signs and maps).  Or we could just starve our opposition again!  Buwahahaha.....

The South Bend regional does not include us converting the heathen as they arrive on campus.

You heathen certainly aren't doing a good job of it, at the South Bend regional I pretty much never see the other teams except in Debartolo or the Law School (where the rounds are held) and sometimes getting food.  It doesn't help spread the heathenness if you keep your heathen ways off campus at a hotel, people!

I dunno, the thought of performing masonic rituals in the ND law school seems quite fun, though.  If I go to ND's regional this year I'll invite you into the cult, ok?  ;)

Come to think of it, I don't even know if we've held anything in the law school.  Certainly nothing in the past two years.  Freshman year we had the awards ceremony there, plus some god-awful scrimmages.  But that's neither here nor there.

That needed not be said. I have left your campus my share of times.

We ran most of the qualifier for the 15th National Season there.

Having just discovered this thread, I'll vote for 2-2, at least in regional tourneys.  I've always liked the Ogden approach with two on Friday and two on Saturday.  As a coach, the budget is always an issue.  And airfares on Saturday are generally much lower than Sunday.

Practical issues aside, though, 1-2-1 is the most fun, as it allows more time for socializing among teams.  At least among those who care to be social.
