Does anyone know the field for the Campbell University or Lafayette  tournaments?

We, Duke, will be going to both Campbell and Lafayette.  I hear Lafayette also brings in both Princeton and Columbia.  Campbell is usually just the Carolina schools - but they've expanded to 16 this year so I'm not sure who they have added.

That is incorrect.  Columbia will not be at Lafayette.

Hey- can't reveal the Lafayette field, but I can tell you we have two of your "top 25" schools coming, as well as several other schools that received one or more national bids last year.  Due to the fact that it's a relatively small field, 24 teams, teams from these competitive schools will butt heads early and often.

All that being said, at the moment the field is filled.  The waitlist is very short though, so if you're interested in Lafayette you should still inquire.

(Edited because I didn't realize a second school in our field is rated in your "Top 25" until I re-read your "Top 25" today.)

Why don't people release their fields?

Well, I'm not authorized to.

"Why" in the theoretical sense is something I saw debated plenty in my lurking time here...

I'm not taking a personal stand on the issue, so don't get that impression.

It just makes no sense.  I can't stress this enough:  You're selling something, people deserve to know what they're buying.  Is there a poaching concern?

On the other hand, it seems that what Leopard said is reasonably sufficient for anyone trying to gauge the quality of the field.

Hardly.  I need to see a full field to make an assessment.  Also, he said "Nationals Bid".  Well, West Florida got a nationals bid, but they aren't a powerhouse program.  It's nowhere near specific enough

I was a lurker here, saw an inquiry about our invitational, and I just tried to be helpful.  I gave as much information as I'm authorized to give, in accordance with what quotequeen suggested I was trying to do.

UAMT: I'm actually not trying to sell anything here.  We haven't had the least bit of trouble filling our field last year or this year to our satisfaction with quality teams.  You'll see the field and how everything played out when I post the results here.  At that point, additional teams can judge for themselves the quality of our field and make a judgment as to whether they want to consider an early registration for the Lafayette '06 tournament.

Right, but why not disclose your field?

It has been my experience that with the exception of Northwestern, the only fields that don't openly disclose are bad ones.

Haha you're trying to get me to make an argument I have no interest in making.  If someone wants to, once again, argue the merits of disclosing or not disclosing invitational fields, go for it.  All I'm saying, which I'm 100% sure you realize by now, is that I'm not authorized to disclose our field.

Actually, somebody could bump up that thread from about month ago debating this very issue, if you'd like to continue it.

That is all I have to say on this matter.  I'll now slip back into my cozy lurker status, unless of course someone has a non-argumentative question or comment about our invitational that they'd like me to address.

"Bad" field -- that's a very loaded, yet vague term there.
What exactly do you mean by "bad" field?
