2008 Macalester Trials
« on: November 09, 2008, 09:07:50 pm »
Just got back from St. Paul. I think I have this right:

1. Iowa 614, 8-0 (PD +94)
2. Drake 488, 8-0 (PD +87)
3. Northwestern 392, 7-0-1
4. Macalester, 577, 7-1
5. Iowa 615, 6-2 (PD +53)
6. Iowa 612, 6-2 (PD +44)
7. St. Olaf 682, 5-2-1 (PD +41)
8. Chicago 697, 5-2-1 (PD +38)
9. Iowa 613, 5-2-1 (PD +30)
10. UW-Superior 492 (PD +44)

If I made an error, please post the changes.

Shout out to St. Olaf. I observed their trial in the second round against Minnesota-Twin Cities 500. For a team just a year and two months old, they've gone a long way.

Good job Iowa.  And good job St. Olaf, is that a new team?!

Wow, how big was the field this year?

Wow, what a showing from Iowa. I didn't catch that the first time I checked out the results for some reason. Wow. I've got the same question as my friend from the left though: how many teams were there?

By my count, there were 43 teams present. As for St. Olaf, I believe they are in their second year of this incantation of their program. I say that because I seem to remember seeing their team number on the AMTA site some time ago, so I'm guessing the program was resurrected. They're getting some good results, but it's not a huge surprise given that it's a high-quality institution.

Iowa cleared out nearly half of the top ten with 43 teams present?! That's ridiculous. Congrats Iowa, you all should be quite proud.
