Nope. But it's been a close race. And to be honest, it comes down to the super-delegates, so we'll see.

I think she would have a chance if she had more money.  i forgot the exact numbers but Obama is outspending her by a metric sh*t-ton.

I really don't think money is the issue. No amount of money can change Hillary's attitude or how the American public perceives her. No amount of Clinton campaign money can really change what the general public thinks of Obama. The special thing about Obama is that people think he's an honest and moral person, and negative advertisements don't really have the effect on him that they would on Hillary or McCain.

I see what your saying and I don't totally disagree with you.  However, I think outspending Hillary exponentially has polished his golden boy image.  Also, I think if Clinton was the one spending the big bucks, that would be Obama's number one attack at her.  In 2012, when Obama is running again without all the change he promised a lot of democrats are ganna feel like dopes.  He IS a lot different from the typical politician, and he has great ideas- i just feel that the experience factor is going to hurt a lot.

Hillary is dead in the water.  Which is sad, because I wanted to see it go all the way to the convention, just because I think it would be really neat to watch what happens at  the nation's first contested convention in 40 years.

....and because you're an avowed McCain supporter who wants to see the Dems keep shooting each other instead of expending the considerable ammo he gives them.

Were it not for the horrific damage it would cause my party, I would've loved to see a real convention. The backroom stories from 1960, with the JFK-LBJ drama, are some of the best I've read in politics. When Robert Kerr, one of LBJ's advisers, heard that JFK had offered the VP spot and that LBJ was going to accept, he ordered an aide to go get his .38, so that he could kill LBJ. Now THAT is bad blood between two same-party candidates.

For now though, thank god our long intraparty nightmare is over.

Even though I'm a McCain supporter, I hate drawing a parallel between John McCain and one of the greatest leaders in the history of the US, Abraham Lincoln. But the only reason Lincoln won the election that year was because the opposing party ran two candidates...cough cough, sound familiar? Just thought it should be mentioned. Tounge

I honestly feel bad for the Democrats.  As much as I love beating them in general elections, it's no fun to do it while they have on hand tied behind their back.  I honestly think McCain can beat Obama head on, without any character attacks, but on issues alone.  It has been made obvious that Obama can't win the poor, white, blue collar vote.  Without Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Michigan and/or Florida, he stands no chance.

Clinton clearly established herself as the stronger candidate in a general election, its just a shame that for her it came too late in the game to make a difference.

Primary season didn't prove Obama can't win blue-collar votes, it just showed that he didn't. With Clinton out, Edwards supporting him (which is just a matter of time at this point), and someone like PA Gov. Ed Rendell as the VP nominee, the union votes will stay in the Dem column and a lot more blue collar votes will follow suit.

wow.  That article gave me goosebumps.  And the pundits try to say that Obama is inspiring?!

Don't say that as if Obama being inspiring is mutually exclusive to McCain being inspiring, or vice versa. In talking with my dad, he and I are in complete agreement that we want Obama to face McCain, because for once we can look at two good people, and decide which we want because of their policies instead of just choosing the lesser evil. Both of these men are great patriots and great leaders; hopefully both sides will respect the other and keep the debate focused on policy differences and not personal attacks.

PS: Favorite McCain story, by far, is his being asked to name the members of his squadron, and rattling off the starting lineup for the Green Bay Packers.

McCain is a hero indeed.  I just don't want to see him make more heroes (and more victims) by keeping this war going on.  I just don't know how it can ever end.  It's the #1 issue to me and I have to vote against him for that reason.  I respect the hell out of him though.

Interesting snippet from Krugman's article in nyt, "Thinking about November."

"This year, all of these factors strongly favor the Democrats. ... Robert Erikson, a political scientist at Columbia, tells me: “It would be difficult to find any serious indicator that does not point to a Democratic victory in 2008.”

What about polls that still seem to give John McCain a good chance of winning? Pay no attention, say the experts: general election polls this early tell you almost nothing... Remember 1992: as late as June, Gallup put Ross Perot in first place, Bill Clinton in third."

Interesting comparison.
