KfN and his Pilots are here.  My understanding is that ours is one of several programs that brought extra students.  My newcomer squad (not competing) is with us to observe and learn.

For those worried about scouting, rest assured that I have warned them against conveying any information about particular teams, etc. to our competing squad. Not that scouting is prohibited, but I'm aware of the strong reactions that concept provokes in some mockers.  We simply wanted these new mockers to have the chance to watch how some good teams do things, as a way to get them up to speed.  If you have concerns, track me down this weekend and we'll talk. Also let me know if you have extras who might be interested in scrimmaging.

While we are at it, keep an eye out for our new educator coach, Prof. Bill Curtis.  He started helping last year, and has been a fantastic addition to the program.  His academic credentials are stellar, with his BA, MA, JD, and PhD from Dartmouth, Stanford, Hastings, and Duke respectively.

Good luck to all.  It looks like the folks here are putting on another great event.

Cheers,

Steven

Anyone have the round 2 pairings? They were supposed to be posted on the sdmt website, but for some reason the link was never active.

Trials are open to anybody who wants to watch them for any reason.  I don't like stealing ideas either, but anybody who's going to lose their temper over scouting needs to get a grip.  Nothing that happens during a round is proprietary.

The top bracket is:

338 (Arizona) v. 712 (ASU)

714 (ASU) v. 668 (Maryland).

After that the bracket breaks, but your tournament winner ought to come from somewhere in here.

Just wanted to thank Ryan and Laura Seelau, as well as Jimmy and Sarah Cool, for putting on one hell of a tournament.  It's rare to see any tournament run so well. Arizona had a great time and we were happy to be able to compete there.

Congratulations to ASU for another 7-1 first place finish! Also wanted thank Minnesota, both Maryland teams, and ASU (715 in particular) for 4 very competitive rounds. Each round left me bewildered, all of them could have gone either way.

Thanks again to ASU for a wonderful tournament! I'm sure I'll see you all again soon.
