Seriously.  No real point in posting this without actually identifying the teams.  You may as well just post "They're up to round 3, and there are some pairings."

Agreed, but I also think it's very valuable to know that Amy Winehouse and Jamie Lynn Spears are going up against each other. That could be interesting...

I whole-heartedly agree.  I'm going to recommend to my teams that we only identify ourselves by celebrities from now on, rather than our school affiliation.

Well, if it's a 2-2 tournament, then R3 pairings could be intended for the competitors who didn't want to stick around after Round 2.

But yes, for the rest of us, team identification would be nice.

Personally, I'd like to see the Disney Channel beatdown going on in the Jonas Brothers v. Miley Cyrus round. Especially since their big break up. I'm hoping for a tied round in which no one is left standing and the world is a better place.

Yes, that is really unfortunate.  Although they made it to the tab room from what I heard, just not out of the tab room. :-(

That's amazing if true.  How could anybody confirm that result was recorded correctly?

No one said anything to tournament directors or tab room coordinators about missing ballots.  Tab room directors said they had all of the ballots for all of the rounds.  If you think something was missing, shoot me an e-mail:  john.robinson@yale.edu.

it was quite an interesting round to say the least. many quotes came out of it.  the fact that fran martin was asked to step down from the witness stand about 8 times during the round was the greatest

one of the judges forgot to score some of our team in round 1, and then disappeared so the ballot was inaccurate to say the least.
gotta love atty judges

There could be an AMTA certificate program, sort of like what many states require new drivers to do.  They must sit through a five hour course and then they're a certified AMTA judge.  They get a five dollar gift card to Starbucks and the ability to judge all mock trial tournaments anywhere in the continental United States.  Alaska and Hawaii requires a separate two hour course.  Although I'm not aware of tournaments in those states (I could be wrong.)
Hello Harry, what sort of tomfoolery shall we get up to today?  No tomfoolery today, Ron.

If there were a tournament in Hawaii, I think we'd all be trying to get our coaches to go to that one.   :)

Bringing this back to the Yale Tournament ;-)

I want to commend the Yale mock trial program for running the best Yale Invitational I have been to in my four years of competition.  Not only was everything mostly on time (except for the opening ceremony, but we still got the round started on time, tho the extra sleep would have been nice!), but the judging pool was very helpful and insightful.  Tab room was always open for a good amount of time between rounds and the captains meetings were straightforward and quick.  Only recommendation would be to have runners from the Yale team who know the campus take ballots to the tab room after rounds from the buildings that are far away :-)  But overall, thanks for a great tournament!  I would even say it was the best run tournament we have been to on the east coast this season (shout out to the Pohlmann and Lyons for their superb tournament).  We will definitely vote for you with our feet again next year!

That being said, Brandeis would like to thank all 8 teams that we competed against this weekend for interesting and well fought rounds.  We learned a lot and were very excited to take home our program's very first tournament champion trophy!

also a shout out to Danielle Gewurz from Brandeis 817 who pulled 20 atty ranks on P but was unfortunately left out of closing ceremonies.

And it was an honor for the tournament championship to come down to either us or BU, as they are just a kickass group of people  :inlove:

I've seen that type of thing happen a number of times.  I think there's actually a pretty simple solution (at least going forward).  Judges should be instructed that they MUST remain in the room until the timekeepers return and confirm that the ballots have been submitted, and there are no mistakes that need to be corrected.  Judges can also be required to give a cell phone number on the registration form.  If a judge leaves, and a mistake can't be corrected as a result, the judge should be denied CLE.

yes, Yale was quite well-run this year--I think shrinking it to 48 teams was a good move.  A couple of minor issues but no more/less than any other tournament.

Brandeis, congratulations on great finishes in each division.

Yeah Yale was run quite smoothly this year.

I saw the Tab summs and Brandeis team (Ashley tisdale) was 1 ballot from taking first in their division.

Congrats to all the other teams that were there for a good competition.

I would point out to the poster that both Princeton 936 and Binghamton 762 also ended with 6-2 records, and that all the teams worked very hard this weekend.  Teams rarely loose a ballot for no reason, and given the quality of the judging this weekend (props to Yale) - at least the judges I had - I think the results were pretty fair.

I'd also offer a big congratulations to Boston University - a great team run by a great group of people.
