I have waited and waited to make my posting here, and now, on the eve of Irvine, I am prepared to call it.

My plane just landed in Southern California, and, it is a little cold for this time of year.

Enough about the weather, let's get onto my picks.

The following teams will fail to advance to Memphis:
USC A or B
Stanford A or B
Cal A or B

The following teams will certainly advance to Memphis:
UCLA A
UCLA B
Irvine A
Fresno State

The following teams will battle it out for the final two spots:
Claremont McKenna
UC - San Diego
Arizona State
Irvine B.

Out of 111 people who voted, 3 don't think UCLA A will qualify.  There's your bulletin board material, UCLA A!

I'm curious about your rationale for UCSD, Fresno, Cal and USC.   Berkeley B did take 2 ballots from UCLA A at regionals, USC has long been a strong program, and UCSD and Fresno have seen less success overall than many of their rivals.

I'm not saying you're wrong or that anyone you mentioned does or does not deserve to qualify.  I was just intrigued by your conclusions.

Wow, congratulations, everyone!  I am personally shocked that both UCLA teams did not make it, but I attribute that to the extraordinarily competitive nature of this ORC.  Special congrats to Irvine!

Congrats to Claremont. From the open bid list to Memphis. That's impressive. I saw that team at UCLA and they're a very deserving squad.

Congrats to the other qualifiers as well.

I think you meant both Cal teams, as UCLA-1167 took a bid. I agree completely, very surprising that Cal goes from taking two off UCLA and going 8-0 at Regionals to not getting a bid.

And what do we make of 1167 qualifying but not 1166? I wonder who will go to Memphis for the Bruins...

UCLA is listed as 1167 and 1168.  67 went 6-2, 68 went 4-2-2.
