White Plains, NY ORCs Poll
« on: March 02, 2010, 04:20:54 pm »
Didn't they fight a battle in White Plains during the Revolution?  I predict this will be worse.

Thanks to our friends at Iona for hosting, BTW.  =)

A small correction: Lafayette 1010 is going to the Hamilton ORC; Lafayete 1011 is going to the White Plains ORC.

Just curious, but is there a reason for that?

I was helping out in the Jamaica tab room and the team that competed as Lafayette 1010 got the bid to White Plains (they won the tiebreaker over the team that competed as Lafayette 1011). That's why the earned bid list (and I assume, this poll) says what it says.

Of course "Seina" got no votes.  That isn't an actual school.  :)

But perhaps "Siena" is, no?  =)

Lafayette A (1010) did receive a bid to White Plains ORC, but due to uncontrollable circumstances, we were diverted to the Hamilton ORC. When Lafayette B (1011) received an open bid, they were automatically diverted to White Plains.

I don't know. White Plains is sporting two teams from some big powers: NYU, Georgetown, Columbia, Maryland, Cornell, and Syracuse. Between those six programs, you have 6 teams who advanced last year. Plus I imagine that NYU B (8-0 at Jamaica) and NYU A (6-2 at Jamaica) will both be looking for bids this year, as well as Maryland A (6-2 at Princeton), UPenn (7-1 at Princeton depending on which team), Columbia B (6-2 at Jamaica) and Iona (7-1 at New Haven). That's a really strong field.

Not saying that Irvine will be any easier, but they're probably going to be a lot closer competition wise than people are thinking at first glance.

I believe this will be the harder of the two.

assume these team numbers aren't accurate to the T, but the teams seem to be from the correct schools

That may or may not be true.  What is undisputed is that White Plains has by far the most bad-ass bid reservation form packet in the country.
