Duke re-stacking is somewhat daunting.  I mentioned I have seen their A team, and they were good, but I have also seen their C team compete.  According to the tab summary, Duke C was responsible for Georgia A's only loss at Birmingham, and similarly Georgia A was responsible for Duke C's only true loss (they also tied Ole Miss B), and their D team won that region.  I have also heard only good things about their B team, which sadly didn't get a bid at Chapel Hill.  Duke's program has some serious depth, and if they have indeed re-arranged their teams, that can only mean they have made 2 monsters that may be capable of swatting Gold level teams out of the sky.

Be wary.

I think it'll be a great ORCS.  I see tons of teams in this field doing really well potentially.  I think it'll be a tough 2 days.  It wouldn't surprise me if some of the favorites end up knocking each other out in early rounds.

It's an unfortunate aspect of MT, but I think we'll only end up seeing maybe 3 or so of the favorites actually advance.  I think some sleepers (who probably aren't as good as the top teams) sneak in just because of pairings and luck.

speaking of "the U"...just realized they were not even at the South Regional last year.  Quite impressive to see them at ORCS.

Thank you. We are pleased to be at ORCS in our first full year after a long hiatus from AMTA competition. The last round the U competed in during a full season was round 4 in St Petersburg in 2005, which was a -2 -4 loss to UVA A (a round famous for those surrounding the programs at the time for the 'non expert identification of handwriting' that turned the tide!). It's been a long time since then, and, of course, I'm the only one with the program who was around to experience those days so it truly is like starting a new program from scratch for me (yet again- ugh)! We hope to experience  the exponential improvement over the next couple of years  that every "new" program is capable of.
It's all about the U.

This is definity going to be a great ORCS. I know a lot of the programs going spread their talent and power across all of their teams (Furman, UCF, UF, Duke). I wouldnt be surprised to see some of the B teams do substantialy well. I am definity looking forward to a great weekend! See you all there!

Unfortunately, a brother/sister combo that is on our team suffered the unimaginable tragedy of losing a parent this week and of course became unavailable to compete this weekend. Losing those two dropped our team from 7 to 5. We are of course disappointed, but more so for our team members. We wish everyone luck at ORCS and will see you all next year.

Yet another tragic reminder that mock trial takes a back seat to real life. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Miami mock crew and especially those two competitors.

That's terrible.  I hope they're dealing with this as well as they can, and that the rest of the team is supporting them in such a difficult time.  My thoughts and prayers go out to them, as well.

And last but not least, the annual "Furman goes to Gold" party:

The following teams will certainly earn bids to Memphis:
Furman A
Furman B
Duke A

The following teams will fail to advance:
Chicago
Mid Tenn State
Georgia Tech

The following teams will fight it out for the other spots:
Duke B, Washington & Lee A, Georgia A, UAB A, Central Florida A

May the best Furman team win.

Duke x2
Georgia x2
Furman
Washington and Lee

Got this via the "qualified teams" page on the tabulation page of AMTA website as well as here: http://twitter.com/AMTAMockTrial (so high tech, AMTA!).  Don't see a tab yet, so don't know the order.

So that's our field...how about some case changes? =)
