the nicest hotel is probably "the suites at 800 locust" Yes that is the official name.  The nice AND affordable one is probably the Marriott.  The Hotel Fort Des Moines has a nice downstairs, but the rooms are small and old.

Sure the NJLC is a corrupt, crooked shit hole of an organization that abuses college students and steals from young children. I took my scheduled day off after 5 days of 13 hours a day...and was summarily reamed for it. I suggested they send me home. They promised to reimburse me for the cost of changing my plane ticket. I have yet to see any reimbursement for that, or for the expense reports I turned in.
