Cal's hosting one of the regionals, but I compete in a different tournament circuit this year, so I won't be a competitor for this one. I'm definitely going to show up as a volunteer witness though. From what I've heard, just by showing up I'll be a welcome improvement from the hungover college student witness.

I do not know where you are receiving this information, but it is incorrect. The states you have marked as "region 9" will not be competing in Kansas City. Regionals for teams from that area will be hosted at the University of Wisconsin- Superior.

I coach for a school in region 9 and I had heard it was going to be in Minneapolis this year. Sounds like mix-ups abound.

I've heard good things about their team this year. We were at TOC with them, didn't end up hitting them though. Good people. Northwestern also has a solid squad this year, as well as Kent. VERY tough region to break out of.

Considering Northwestern and Kent were in the TYLA Championship round last year in Houston, I'd say it's more than a tough region to break out of.

My mistake. I thought the all caps VERY would serve to demonstrate that it is "more than tough." I'll be sure to use at least 3 or 4 next time.

LOL, so... Today I learned for the first time that I'm competing for this competition on a bye team. Have yet to read the problem and the competition is next weekend.

Don't worry...it's a terrible problem with little meat on it. It won't be hard to pick up in a short time.

Which really describes every TYLA problem, come to think of it. Are they providing actual affidavits nowadays, or do you still have to impeach with "summaries of depositions?"

I hate the math. Good thing our actual registered teams did all that work for us already.

Hah, what math...Jensen doesn't need math, he can divine the speed based solely on the skid marks and eyeballing the damage to the car. "Somewhere close to 100" gives a whole new meaning to reasonable degree of scientific certainty.

Tenacious, the TYLA problems I've seen have all had depositions, not simply summaries...

Yea, you should not have too much of a problem putting together a decent case by that point. What region will you be competing in?

13? I think that's what it is - San Francisco, in the NorCal region. Boalt already has two teams, so I'll be in plenty of company.

The Region 9 posting is correct. We're competing in KC in two weeks. Anyone else on p.com going to be there?

Philbertk, that was exactly my impression of Jensen. I've spent most of my time preparing his DX on how to figure out how to get that into evidence. It ain't comin' in is my conclusion.

Didn't go to law school, but I'm volunteering at one.
